MODfestivals e.V.
MODfestivals e.V. was founded in 2018 and is the organizer of both festivals, the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf and Musica Sacra International – which alternate each year, always over Whitsun.
The organization developed from the Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Chorverbände (BDC), whose successor, the Bundesmusikverband Chor und Orchester, has remained closely attached to MODfestivals e.V. as its ideal supporting organization. The members are mainly made up of representatives from choral associations and other music institutions.
The main task of MODfestivals e.V. is the organization and carrying out of the two festivals founded by Dolf Rabus, the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf and Musica Sacra International. The primary aim is to enable the peaceful meeting together of different cultures through music.
The International Chamber Choir Competition brings together the best amateur choirs in the world in order to compare them. In addition, the choirs are encouraged to get to know each other, exchange choral literature, interpretations, styles or techniques.
Musica Sacra International invites ensembles from different religious communities for a musical meeting in Marktoberdorf. Its aim is the interreligious and intercultural dialogue between Buddhists, Christians, Moslems, Jews, Hindus and other (religious) communities through concerts, workshops explaining content and background and the school project “Toleranz macht Schule”.
