Music in interreligious encounters - practical experiences and insights
A look at the programmes of concerts, festivals and music broadcasts on radio and the internet shows: Music enjoys a special status in projects of interreligious and intercultural encounters. But what makes music so fascinating for such projects? What musical genres are used - and what experiences are made? How and through what can music make intercultural and interreligious differences experienceable - and under which conditions can it have a connecting effect across differences?
Discussing these experiences:
Hayat Chaoui, Singer and lecturer for singing at the University of Wuppertal
Dr. Isabel Laack, Private lecturer at the Institute for Religious Studies at the University of Heidelberg and representative of the Chair of Missiology, Ecumenism and Religious Studies at the University of Hamburg
Bettina Strübel, Deanery cantor at the Luther Church in Offenbach, co-founder of the Interreligious Choir Frankfurt and artistic director of the festival Musica Sacra International
Dr. Britta Sweers, Professor of Cultural Anthropology of Music and Director of the Center for Cultural Studies at the University of Bern
Moderation: Dr. Verena Grüter, private lecturer in intercultural theology and religious studies at the Augustana University Neuendettelsau and artistic director of the festival Musica Sacra International
